Solid Waste Management
Solid Waste Management
IPCA promotes Decentralized Solid Waste Management System and implemented the same in various corporate, industries, institutes and residential colonies of Delhi NCR. IPCA provides the following services to the society in the field of solid waste management:
IPCA provides door-to-door waste collection services to many residnetial colonies of Delhi NCR. IPCA formed a team of Paryavaran Mitra, who were part of informal sector before their association with IPCA. IPCA does capacity building of these Paryavaran Mitra on regualr basis through various communication tools to improve their lifestyle, income, and health. IPCA is committed and has a vision to transform the informal sector into more organized and formal sector.
IPCA is equipped with Tricycle, Mahindra Pick Ups, TATA ACE and Tempo for the transportation of waste material from the source of its generation to the designated place.
IPCA is putting lots of efforts in creating awareness among the stakeholders of our society to segregate their waste at the source and encourage people to start their own waste management by segregation of waste at least into bio-degradable and non-degradable. IPCA is also provide training to its Paryavarn Mitra for secondary segregation of solid waste in to bio-degradable organic waste, plastic, paper, glass, metal and non-recyclable components.
IPCA follow zero waste management approach and utilized maximum constituent of waste through different means.IPCA channelize segregated bio-degradable organic waste into (i) Vermicomposting, (ii) Pig Farming, and (iii) Pisci-culture Farming. IPCA is operating vermicomposting unit in association with Citizen Environment Improvement Society, Noida.
(i) Vermicomposting is a bio-oxidation process of organic materials and involves a joint action of earthworms and micro-organisms. Earthworms (Easinea foetida) breakdown organic wastes into a stable non-toxic material with good structure, which has a potentially high economic value as soil conditioner and manure for plant growth. Participation of inoculated earthworms in vermicomposting magnified the process by both quality and quantity within shortened duration. Thus, vermicomposting has many other advantages especially in ecological terms.
(ii) Pig Farming: bio-degradable organic waste with high moisture content (e.g. cooked vegetable, curd, dal etc.) is not recommended for vermicomposting. Therefore, IPCA feed wet garbage to the pigs and utilized the wet garbage.
(iii) Pisci Culturing: IPCA feeds meat waste material to pisci culturing center for its best utilization.
IPCA has a network of recycler at PAN India for the recycling of various waste commodities like Paper, Tetra Pak`s Packages, Plastic, Card-board, Glass, Metal, etc.
In decentralized solid waste management system a very miniscule amount reach to landfill site.
